“For me, the AES is the only dignified and saving force for Africans and Afro-descendants.” — Francois, 22, Burkina Faso
April 30th, 2025 marked a historic day of unity and resistance as Africans across the globe mobilized in solidarity with the president of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, and the AES Confederation, affirming renewed commitment to African dignity, sovereignty, and revolution.
From New York to Accra, London to Kingston, a wave of global protests erupted in response to mounting coordinated attacks and thinly veiled threats from imperial forces seeking to undermine the African revolution. These mobilizations were ignited by a string of escalating events that revealed a familiar pattern of imperialist interference in Africa.
The Road to April 30th: A Timeline of Escalation
“The AES to me isn’t just another regional bloc—it’s a revolutionary movement pushing for African autonomy and prosperity, which can only be achieved through severing ties with the imperial core. It is not only a symbol of revolution in Africa, but for the entire Global South.”— Pierre, 23, UK
Planning of mobilization began shortly after April 4th, when a televised U.S. senate hearing saw General Micheal Langley, head of AFRICOM, accuse Captain Ibrahim Traore of being a ‘threat to his people’— a phrase recognized as a precursor to imperialist intervention. In the days that followed, reports emerged of another attempt on Traore’s life, raising alarm across Africa and the Diaspora. On April 21st, an official communique from the Burkinabe minister of security, Mahamadou Sana, confirmed the involvement of U.S. proxy state Ivory Coast in the plot to kill Captain Traore and undermine the AES Confederation. Just three days later, on April 24, General Langley was spotted in Abidjan, a move seen by many as brazen confirmation of coordination between the U.S. and its regional counter-revolutionary forces. Drawing parallels from the assassinations of Patrice Lumumba, Muammar Gaddafi, and Thomas Sankara amongst others, these provocations catalyzed the call for mass global mobilization on April 30th, as Africans worldwide recognized the familiar pattern of the imperialists to destabilize our struggles and have resolved to break the cycle once and for all.
Defend The AES: Africa’s Only Future
“The AES is my strength and hope in this tireless ongoing struggle against neo-colonialism and imperialism.” —Mariama, 26, Portugal
The AES is more than an alliance; it is a beacon for Africa. The AES Confederation is not only at the forefront of the struggle against imperialism but it is also the embryon for what will one day become the United States of Africa. All conscious Africans must serve, protect, and defend the AES. If we fail to do so, and if we lose this momentum, history will not absolve us. We call on all African people, across this world, to recognize that their fate is tied to the fate of the AES and to make it a priority to defend this revolution by any means necessary.
Our Coalition created the AES Solidarity Fund in order to mobilize resources for the Sahelian revolution. Money donated to this fund is distributed to revolutionary organizations throughout the AES that struggle alongside their revolutionary governments. As our enemies heighten their aggression towards the AES, we must heighten our efforts to defend this struggle. We urge you to donate generously and continuously to sustain the revolutionary process. We also urge you to join revolutionary organizations in your areas that are committed to the liberation of our people and to provide ideological, logistical and material support to the AES Confederation. Africa is on the move and she requires our hands, resources, and courage.
Down with imperialism!
Down with neo-colonialism!
Long live the AES Confederation!
